- 2: Plant trees, shrubs and perennials.
- 6: Crocosmia, dahlia, lily, canna and ginger lily bulbs can be planted.
- 9: Plan to stake any perennials that may need support during the growing season.
- 10: Prune lavender and sage to within six inches above ground.
- 12: This is a great time to purchase azaleas, as they are in bloom and you will know exactly
what color they are.
- 15: Hang your hummingbird feeders.
Plant annuals after the Frost Free Date (April 15th) has passed.
- 16: Plant seasonal herbs after frost date (15th).
Plan to shop for aquatic plants after the frost date (15th) as selection is great.
- 17: Fertilize annuals with a slow release fertilizer, such as Osmocote.
- 18: Sow beans, corn, cucumbers and peas.
- 19: Plant container gardens.
- 22: Keep new additions to the garden well watered for the first few weeks after planting.
- 24: Transplant eggplant, melon, peppers, squash, watermelon, spinach and zucchini.
- 27: Fertilize warm season turf at the end of the month or early May.
- 29: Most veggie plants can be planted at the end of the month.
- 30: Plant summer bulbs, like dahlias, cannas and elephant ears toward the end of the month.
