- 6: Fertilize cool season turf (fescue) according to soil test. Fairview recommends a pre-emergent herbicide & fertilizer combined.
- 8: Plant trees, shrubs and perennials.
- 10: Fertilize perennials with Plant-Tone.
- 11: Fertilize trees and shrubs with Holly-Tone.
- 12: Plant cool season veggies: cabbage, collards, onions, peas, etc.
- 13:Milky Spore can be applied to turf to control grubs, which will later control Japanese Beetles.
- 14: Plant pansies and snapdragons, if needed.
- 17: Trim away dead stems from perennials as new growth emerges.
- 18: This is a great time to purchase and plant creeping phlox as they are in bloom.
- 19: Prune grapes.
- 20: Divide ornamental grasses before new growth emerges.
- 22: Apply lime to hydrangeas to turn their flowers pink and sulfur to turn their flowers blue.
- 25: Apply tree and shrub systemic to prevent insects in the upcoming season.
- 27: Divide and replant perennials if they have gotten crowded or flowering has diminished.
- 31: Prepare veggie beds.
