Flowered Placemats

This really easy project is fun and makes a pretty place mat that can help make clean up a snap after dinner! Both attractive and functional... need I say more? Even better, it only requires a couple of items to put it all together. So let’s get started...

Materials Needed
- Clear Contact Paper
- Flowers and Leaves
- Scissors

Putting It All Together
For each placemat, cut two pieces of clear contact paper into 12” x 18” pieces. Remove the backing from one piece and lay it sticky side up on a flat surface. Next, remove the blossoms and leaves from their stems and place them onto the sticky contact paper and press everything flat. It should be noted that some flowers will work better if you remove the petals and lay them individually onto the contact paper.

Next, remove the backing from the other piece of contact paper and place it sticky side down over your arrangement. Work from the center toward the edges, pressing wrinkles and air bubbles outward. Don’t worry too much about lining the edges perfectly, as you can trim them once you are finished. Once you have your contact paper smooth, trim the edges with a pair of scissors. If you want, use specialty scrapbooking scissors for a decorative edge. Alternate idea: Use decorative tape around the edges to add to your design! The colors of your flowers and leaves will eventually fade to various shades of brown, giving your placemats an antique and elegant look!
