Growing Magnet

This fun and simple project can be put together during the cool fall months and nurtured indoors until warmer weather arrives. Young children are sure to enjoy the craftiness of this project and will get to see some cool things, too! Let’s get started!

Materials Needed
- Small Clear Container (pill bottle or something from craft store)
- Magnetic Strip
- Cotton Balls
- Glue
- Fast Growing Seed
- Embellishments (Acrylic Paint, Glitter, etc.)

Putting It All Together
This project is really easy and doesn’t take long to put together. Simply decorate your small container, making sure to leave enough open space between decorations so that you can see into the container. Glue a magnetic strip on the backside of the container and let it dry. Next, dampen two cotton balls with some water and place them in the bottom of the container. Lay your seed on top of the cotton balls and top it with another damp cotton ball (do not place the lid on top). Hang your container upright on the refrigerator and watch it grow! Keep the cotton balls moist by adding enough water to them without making a puddle in the bottom of your container. Once it outgrows the container, plant it into a flower pot to keep inside until warmer weather arrives.
