How To: Design Your Own Watering Can

With the cooler temps of winter comes more days inside anxiously awaiting for the longer, warmer days that are ahead. In the meantime, lets start preparing for our upcoming gardening frenzy by personalizing a watering can! By now, you may have already received various seed and gardening catalogues in the mail; these make wonderful resources for any young gardening enthusiast to select various pictures to decorate their can. If these types of catalogues are not at your disposal, pick a theme that will make your little ones heart sing - perhaps their favorite cartoon character, musician or even color (select a variety of pictures within that color range). No matter what theme is chosen, they are sure to enjoy making this can all their own and will enjoy using it in the months to come. Let’s get started!

Materials Needed

- Plastic Watering Can
- Magazines for Pictures
- Newspaper
- Scissors
- Clear Waterproof Glue
- Small Container to Hold Glue
- One-Inch Paintbrush
- Waterproof Marker

Directions

- Cut out pictures that you will enjoy. Make sure to select pix that are different sizes.
- Select a work surface and cover with newspaper.
- Pour glue into a small container. Use your paintbrush to apply the glue on the back of your pictures.
- Press the pictures onto your watering can, making sure to leave the handle bare (pictures may wear off). Let glue dry.
- Apply a coat of glue over the pictures and any exposed watering can plastic, again avoiding the handle. Let dry.
- Sign and date the bottom.
