Tricyrtis
These exotic flowers come in many colors, resembling small orchids. They are extremely hardy perennials that bloom in late summer to fall and love good, moist soil rich in organic matter. Tricyrtis, also called “Toad Lily,” has rich green foliage on graceful, arching stems. This clump-forming plant grows 24-36 inches tall, best in partial shade. This knockout plant deserves a place among lily of the valley, spotted dead nettle and evergreen ferns, to name a few companion plants.

  Tiarella
Wonderful shade-loving plants bearing uniquely shaped leaves often splashed with color. Tiarella has strikingly similar foliage to Heuchera. Common name of “Foamflower,” their blooms resemble spiky bottlebrush foliage and come in shades of pink and white. Spring to early-summer bloomers, this woodland plant is at home among Ferns, Hosta, Astilbe and Heuchera. Tiarella grows 6 to 16 inches tall.

  Achillea ‘Summer Wine’
Achillea, better known as Yarrow, is a superb cutting flower for fresh or dried arrangements, as well as deer resistant and butterfly attracting. Yarrows are among the best perennials for hot and dry locations. They provide good color throughout the summer months. Summer Wine produces a deep wine color cluster flower growing 18 to 24 inches with fragrant foliage. The rich wine color of the flower will make a great addition to any garden as an accent, combined with ornamental grasses, or background for shorter perennials like Platycodon (Balloon Flower), Stokesia (Stokes Aster), or whatever your imagination pairs it with.

A sun loving plant that has the aroma of licorice! A variety of flower and foliage color attracts hummingbirds and butterflies. Midsummer to fall blooms, Agastache looks great among Caryopteris, Heliopsis, Monarda and Rudbeckia. Striking flower spikes in warm shades of rose, pink and orange. Height ranges from 18 to 36 inches tall. Golden Jubilee has 4 inch purple spike flowers above chartreuse leaves. Deer resistant.
